Delta Sigma Pi (DSP) is a professional fraternity that fosters growth, encouragement, and a personal connection among students with similar educational interests regarding the field of business. Delta Sigma Pi offers professional, communal, and personal advancement through community service activities, brotherhood events, and professional events.
DSP works with members of the community to give back to underprivileged youth, to fight for cures against life-threatening diseases, and to provide comfort and support to those less fortunate. In the past, the Lambda Pi chapter of Delta Sigma Pi has worked at the Out of Darkness Walk, walked for hope for a cure at the United Heart Association’s Heart Walk, and volunteered at GolfPro Kids.
This fraternity also offers its members the opportunity to grow professionally by preparing brothers for interviews through various speakers and exercises, building their resume, and providing opportunities for internships. The Lambda Pi chapter has had the opportunity to have professional events with Northwestern Mutual, Rubio’s, Islands, Wells Fargo Bank, various lawyers, and successful entrepreneurs.
With more than 260 chapters and over 220,000 members, Delta Sigma Pi offers its members lifelong friendships, as well as networking opportunities.
Recruitment week occurs at the beginning of each semester and is open to all business majors. (Freshmen are not allowed to pledge during their first semester at the University of San Diego in accordance with the university’s policies.) Each recruitment week consists of an informational meeting, an interview with the brothers, a professional event, a social activity that allows prospective pledges to get to know the brothers on a more informal level, and a meet the chapter event. The interview and meet the chapter event give the prospective pledges an opportunity to discuss their attributes that will help Delta Sigma Pi grow and what they can expect to get out of the fraternity.
The pledging process is an 8-10 week process that includes weekly meetings, creating a resume, putting on a fundraising event, organizing a professional event, and having a brotherhood event.
Spring Recruitment will be held February 15-19, 2010. Informational tables will be set up around campus on February 9th and 11th during dead hours.
